What are the most downloaded apps in the world? The app market situation changes every year. Therefore, we conducted our research and prepared a video showing the top 10 most popular apps since 2002.

  • Facebook - probably the app with the most downloads ever. Facebook is a global social network used nearly by 2.7 billion people every month.

  • MySpace - a social networking app bringing the well-known website into mobile form.

  • Qzone - one of many social networking applications created in China. Launched in 2005, It allows users to write blogs, send photos, listen to music, and watch videos.

  • Hi5 - a social networking service based in San Francisco. It was created in 2004 and redesigned in 2009 with an orientation toward gaming and entertainment.

  • Orkut - was a social networking service founded in 2004 and owned by Google. The service was dissolved in 2014.

  • Flickr - an image and video hosting service, as well as an online community. It was created by Ludicorp in 2004.

  • Friendster - was an American networking site launched in 2003. The company was sold in 2015 and became a social gaming site based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

  • YouTube -an online video-sharing platform headquartered in San Bruno, California. It was founded in 2005 and still is one of the most popular websites/apps in the world.

  • LinkedIn - a business and employment-oriented online service launched in 2003.

  • Reddit - a very popular social news aggregation, web content rating, and discussion website.

  • Twitter - one of the top microblogging and social networking services on which users post and interact with messages known as "tweets"

  • Google Buzz - was a social networking, microblogging and messaging tool that was developed by Google in 2010 and discontinued in 2011.

  • Weibo (Sina Weibo) - a Chinese microblogging website. Launched in 2009, it is one of the biggest social media platforms in China, with over 445 million monthly active users

  • WeChat - a Chinese multi-purpose messaging, social media and mobile payment app developed by Tencent in 2011. WeChat has over 1 billion monthly active users.

  • Tumblr - an American microblogging and social networking website founded in 2007. The service allows users to post multimedia and other content to a short-form blog.

  • Google+ - was a social network owned and operated by Google. The network was launched in 2011 and shut down in 2019.

  • WhatsApp - an American freeware, cross-platform messaging and Voice over IP service owned by Facebook, Inc.

  • Instagram - an American photo and video sharing service owned by Facebook, and originally launched in 2010.

  • TikTok - a Chinese video-sharing service owned by ByteDance and released in 2016. This year the app has surpassed 2 billion all-time global downloads across iOS and Android devices.
  • QQ - an instant messaging app developed by the Chinese tech giant Tencent.
